The Lucky Dress By: Aimee Brown

Emi Harrison, our main girl, is freshly back on the market after her ex-fiancée, Jack, decided to be a sleaze. She is moving on by creating a new life for herself and pushing her broken heart past her worst moment ever. It’s been a year since the big scandal went down, and she is being forced to see Jack again at her brother’s wedding. Throw in an archenemy and what could go wrong, right?!

The Lucky Dress was so fun! A true definition of a RomCom! When reading a novel, writing skill is very important to me. Overall, Brown did a fantastic job writing this story. I did notice some wording that was off once or twice while reading it (honestly could just be style differences), but it wasn’t enough to affect my opinion of the novel. I really loved how Brown moved forward as well as backward with this book. The flashback scenes allowed me to get to know the characters better as well as understand their emotions.

When I started this novel, I had no idea where it was going to take me. I started loving the very character I wanted to hate, causing all of the emotional turmoil Emi was feeling to manifest in me as well. This is a testament to how well Brown is at character development; it's superb! There are several twists in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, craving to know what the next chapter would bring. More than once, I wanted to smack Emi, because she is just so stubborn! I felt invested in her relationships. The novel tied off nicely, and I was pleased that Emi comes to terms with her feelings and learns to overcome the stubbornness rooted in her.

The Lucky Dress is a hilarious page turner that reminds me why I love a happy ending. I read it in one sitting even if it did keep me up late that night! I highly recommend this novel for anyone who loves romantic comedies or just wants a fun read. You can purchase it through my amazon affiliate link here!

Bootleg Springs Series By Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley

Y’ALL! I devoured this six book series, Bootleg Springs . I have so much I want to say about it, but I will try not to drop any big spoilers! Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley did a great job collaborating on this series. Although I believe I can tell the difference in who was the main writer in each book, the series was so well woven and consistent. I gave each of the books 5 stars on Goodreads !             The books are set in a small West Virginia town, Bootleg Springs, famous for its hard-hitting moonshine. I fell in love with the town as well as the quirky characters that gave the town its uniqueness. Our main characters are the Bodine family and their close friends. Each book follows a different set of characters, found on the beautiful covers, and the series needs to be read in order! There is an overarching storyline involving the disappearance of a teenage girl 13 years earlier, and that’s all I can say about ...

Red Rising By Pierce Brown

I am so impressed with this story,  Red Rising by Pierce Brown. It has sat in my “to-read list” for a really long time. Honestly, I’m a little thankful I waited because the anticipation waiting for the next book would have killed me with this series! I gave this book a 5/5 rating. I honestly loved it. I read the first six chapters before I went to bed, and the next day at work all I could think about was the story and how I had to know what happened. To say the least my heart was so shattered (maybe because I have a soft spot for miners…who knows!?) during that initial section. Brown did such a great job capturing the identity of his characters and making you love and need more from them. In a world separated by the color of someone’s hair, eyes, and sigils, Darrow, the lowest of the low a red, slaves in the bottoms of the mines of mars. When his life is shattered and torn upside down he, our favorite helldiver, goes through hell to face the golds and make his wife’...
