Bootleg Springs Series By Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley

Y’ALL! I devoured this six book series, Bootleg Springs. I have so much I want to say about it, but I will try not to drop any big spoilers! Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley did a great job collaborating on this series. Although I believe I can tell the difference in who was the main writer in each book, the series was so well woven and consistent. I gave each of the books 5 stars on Goodreads!
The books are set in a small West Virginia town, Bootleg Springs, famous for its hard-hitting moonshine. I fell in love with the town as well as the quirky characters that gave the town its uniqueness. Our main characters are the Bodine family and their close friends. Each book follows a different set of characters, found on the beautiful covers, and the series needs to be read in order! There is an overarching storyline involving the disappearance of a teenage girl 13 years earlier, and that’s all I can say about that to avoid any spoilers!
When I started the first book, Whiskey Chaser, I almost got annoyed with how the characters used y’all in place of singular you… I’ve lived in Tennessee my whole life and traveled throughout the entire south, and I’ve never heard it like that. Maybe I am just desensitized, but I don’t think so. Let me know if you use it this way, or know if anyone else does. In the later books, the use of y’all is more accurate to the southern diction (or I stopped noticing).
I instantly fell in love with sassy Scarlett Bodine and the unbelievable town of Bootleg Springs. The youngest (and probably toughest) of the Bodines, Scarlett is a whirlwind. When she sets her eyes on the downtrodden lawyer next door, she has to have her way with him. Intending to recover what pride and reputation he has left, Devlin is looking to get away from it all. He has no intention of falling for the wild woman next door. Everything goes great until the disappearance that shook their town 13 years ago comes back to visit.
The second book, Sidecar Crush, stars the youngest Bodine brother Jameson, our quiet artist. His childhood best friend, Leah Mae has ventured away from her childhood home and made a flashy life for herself. After a rocky reality tv stint, she returns to gather her bearings and figure out where life is going. You won’t forget their traffic stopping relationship! When Leah Mae's fame brings attention to Jameson, will he and his family be able to face the truth behind Callie Kendall's disappearance.
The third book, Moonshine Kiss, stays in line with another Bodine brother, Bowie. Cassidy Tucker is his little-sister’s lifelong best friend, and nothing more, or so he tells himself. Deputy Tucker is the literal girl next door that he can’t seem to keep out of his mind! In this installment, the suspense and mystery about what really happened 13 years ago turns up a notch when Cassidy follows her gut on the newest development on Callie's case.
The genius June Tucker takes control of the fourth book, Bourbon Bliss. When George’s career ends, he learns that a football isn’t the most important thing to catch! June is too smart for her own good, and insists on discovering the clouded truth behind Callie’s disappearance and the night that inevitably changed all of their lives. While making big discoveries in the case, will she be able to discover the secrets of her heart?
The newest Bodine, Jonah, named after his alcoholic non-existent father, may he rest in peace, still feels like he is the odd-man out in the tight community. In Gin Fling, his personal training business is booming, but can't seem to find his fit in this crazy town. Itching to have a real family, even if he is going to leave Bootleg Springs, he isn’t going to be the one that tells their story to a nosey, good for nothing journalist. When Shelby invades his life, will he be able to keep her out? Shelby is obsessed with small town, Bootleg Springs, and just wants to come to terms with her new future and forget about her past. When what happened 13 years ago becomes her topic of interest, will it take her life too?
Gibson, broody yet sweet, Gibson. My favorite Bodine takes the cake with the last book, Highball Rush. All secrets are revealed in the final installment, and we find out what really happened all those years ago. In order to be happy Gibson must come to terms with the damage his father did, but some things may just be too much to be forgiven.
Both Lucy and Claire are great writers, and captivate your attention from the very beginning. I laughed, cried, and wished I lived in Bootleg Spring more with each book. Each of the characters are well defined and unique really giving the story dimension and depth. If you take this series at its face value, you get really fun romances with plenty of laughs. However, when you delve into the series, you are filled with stories of self-discovery, healing, suspense, and mystery. This series rivals for the top spot on my romantic comedy and general fiction lists, and I highly recommend it for mature readers!

Although I read these through Kindle Unlimited, I loved them so much I am in the process of buying them in print (I set a book budget that I'm trying not to break)!

Whiskey Chaser: Scarlett and Devlin
Sidecar Crush: Jameson and Leah Mae
Moonshine Kiss: Bowie and Cassidy
Bourbon Bliss: June and George
Gin Fling: Jonah and Shelby
Highball Rush: Gibson

After you finish the last book, there is another epilogue you can read, and I highly recommend signing up to receive the copy free! I'm also looking forward to reading the Blue Moon Series by Lucy Score! We are given a tiny peak into it in book 6!

Sorcery of Thorns By Margaret Rogerson

Sorcery of Thorns By Margaret Rogerson did not disappoint! I give this book a full 5 stars, and I am so thrilled I finally picked it up! This book sat on my TBR shelf for about four months. Y’all, that was five months too long! This standalone fantasy novel is uniquely thrilling, humorous, and inspiring.   It’s a must read for all lovers of fantasy!  Elisabeth was raised in the bowels of the library vowing to protect others from the evil of magic. Nathaniel is a sorcerer and the vilest kind, or at least his cold eyes say as much. When Elisabeth has to depend on the person she has grown up despising, she learns more about herself than she ever thought possible. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and dear, sweet Silas teach us that the world is not always what we are taught and that people do not have to become what they are labeled.     This is Rogerson’s sophomore novel, but the first story I have read by her. This world was created with such care and detail it could easily hav

Game Changer By Sylvie Stewart

I was pleasantly surprised with Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart. When I started the story, I had to roll my eyes a few times at the over the top small-town details. A rebel flag suitcase… come on now? That just doesn’t happen, especially for people like the characters in this story. However, I let the ridiculous southern details slide and decided to power on figuring the author was going for an over the top, Sweet Home Alabama, melt your heart southern family.             I’m very pleased with my decision to continue reading. I truly started to like our main girl, Poppy. Her desire to fit into the New York lifestyle was natural, even if her southern roots were a little stronger than any I’ve ever personally seen. Her relationship with Mac is so cute and swoon worthy. Stewart did an amazing job with the comedic relief, and I was entertained the entire time. But wait! You will be happy to know that there is, in fact, a plot underneath all of the absurdity known as Mi

Relatively Normal By Whitney Dineen

--> Relatively Normal was recommended by Amazon as a book that I may be interested in. After having purchased several "recommended" books by Amazon that were total flops, I am a little more resistant to purchase their recommendations. When I saw that Whitney Dineen was an award winning author, I figured I would give this romantic comedy a go. I give this book 3.3 stars rounded down to a 3. I wanted to like this book more than I did.  Cat is a successful party planner who is in a committed relationship and decides to take her betrothed home to meet her family; however, her family isn’t quite “normal.” So… you can see where this story is going. To make matters even worse her high school love who tragically smashed her heart into a million pieces decides to re-enter her life. In the beginning, I had a hard time really connecting with the characters. The story was interesting because I wanted to see what the Masterson family was going to do next. As the stor
