Game Changer By Sylvie Stewart

I was pleasantly surprised with Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart. When I started the story, I had to roll my eyes a few times at the over the top small-town details. A rebel flag suitcase… come on now? That just doesn’t happen, especially for people like the characters in this story. However, I let the ridiculous southern details slide and decided to power on figuring the author was going for an over the top, Sweet Home Alabama, melt your heart southern family.
I’m very pleased with my decision to continue reading. I truly started to like our main girl, Poppy. Her desire to fit into the New York lifestyle was natural, even if her southern roots were a little stronger than any I’ve ever personally seen. Her relationship with Mac is so cute and swoon worthy. Stewart did an amazing job with the comedic relief, and I was entertained the entire time. But wait! You will be happy to know that there is, in fact, a plot underneath all of the absurdity known as Miss Georgia Peach, Poppy.
Mac’s family history as well as the treachery he is avoiding give the reader an enticing story to follow. Not to mention, the back and forth between stoic Mac and trusting Poppy made me want to chain smoke (not that I did) from my yo-yoing emotions. Poppy’s self-acceptance and progress in her career was appreciated; I just wish it would’ve came a little sooner.
The character development was good. I was worried we wouldn’t see enough of Mac to really figure him out, but Stewart was able to succinctly round him out without losing the reader in too many details and conversations. On a side note, the Mac on the cover didn't match up to the Mac I had in my mind... feel free to comment your opinion! I would have loved to see more of Cookie, Iris, and Bunny, but maybe Stewart has that planned for something in the future! I recommend this story to anyone who loves a romantic comedy!

Relatively Sane By Whitney Dineen

Relatively Sane By Whitney Dineen This is the second book in the relatively series by Whitney Dineen. I read it right behind the first book with little lag time between the two. If you do as I did, be prepared for a lot of re-cap. I give this book 3.5 stars rounding to a 4. Our main girl Cat is back in this romcom about the Masterson clan. She is home and looking to start a new life for herself in familiar territory. She has rekindled (kinda, you will see) her relationship with Sam and is excited about being home and with her family. Now she just needs to figure out how she's going to go from a party planner in the big apple to a career in her small hometown.  I was intending on giving this book a 3, but the ending was really good. I felt like the entire first half of the book could have been a couple chapters because it practically went over the majority of what happened in the first book. This allows for people to hop right in to the second book without having to read Relat...

Bootleg Springs Series By Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley

Y’ALL! I devoured this six book series, Bootleg Springs . I have so much I want to say about it, but I will try not to drop any big spoilers! Lucy Score and Claire Kingsley did a great job collaborating on this series. Although I believe I can tell the difference in who was the main writer in each book, the series was so well woven and consistent. I gave each of the books 5 stars on Goodreads !             The books are set in a small West Virginia town, Bootleg Springs, famous for its hard-hitting moonshine. I fell in love with the town as well as the quirky characters that gave the town its uniqueness. Our main characters are the Bodine family and their close friends. Each book follows a different set of characters, found on the beautiful covers, and the series needs to be read in order! There is an overarching storyline involving the disappearance of a teenage girl 13 years earlier, and that’s all I can say about ...

On The Rocks By Kandi Steiner

On the Rocks is set in small town Tennessee, and I can’t lie and say that’s not why I chose to read it. It is my first book by this author, and I am super excited to read more by her. I followed her on Instagram, @kandisteiner, shortly after finishing this read, and I recommend you follow her on there as well! Great content and really fun person!    This book is well written, fun and a great romance! I gave it 5 fully-deserving stars. Steiner’s writing is easy to read and captures her characters intricacies, naturally causing the reader to fall in love with them. The story line was well developed and complete. Steiner conveys all the right feelings to you through her writing so that you are laughing and crying right along with our favorite people. Our main girl, Ruby Grace (love, love, love double names!) has some really great qualities. At first, I was worried that she was too young and naive to delve into too deeply, but I was wrong! Her struggles to ...
