Hold Me Today By Maria Luis

Hold Me Today (Put A Ring On It Book 1) by [Luis, Maria]I went back and forth on whether this book deserved 4 stars or 5, and I decided to go with 4. I really liked this book! There is so much cultural richness woven throughout this story, I couldn’t help but devour every word and yearn for more. After gladly submerging myself in the world Luis created, I wish I was Greek!
Hold Me Today by Maria Luis is an entertaining romance that delves deeper as our main girl, Mina, has to come to terms with her insecurities and lifelong struggles. Luis does a truly amazing job rounding out our main characters, Mina and Nick, making the reader fall head over heels in love. Honestly, I wanted to strangle Mina when she was being stubborn and hard on herself, but after learning about her upbringing, I can understand "the why" behind her behavior. Being able to put yourself in a character’s head and understand the motivation behind her insecurities and actions shows the talent the author possesses in character development.

Well written and fully developed, I am excited to read more by Maria Luis! Hold Me Today leaves you feeling lighter and itching for more. I recommend it to anyone who likes a contemporary romance with a little more to offer.

Sorcery of Thorns By Margaret Rogerson

Sorcery of Thorns By Margaret Rogerson did not disappoint! I give this book a full 5 stars, and I am so thrilled I finally picked it up! This book sat on my TBR shelf for about four months. Y’all, that was five months too long! This standalone fantasy novel is uniquely thrilling, humorous, and inspiring.   It’s a must read for all lovers of fantasy!  Elisabeth was raised in the bowels of the library vowing to protect others from the evil of magic. Nathaniel is a sorcerer and the vilest kind, or at least his cold eyes say as much. When Elisabeth has to depend on the person she has grown up despising, she learns more about herself than she ever thought possible. Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and dear, sweet Silas teach us that the world is not always what we are taught and that people do not have to become what they are labeled.     This is Rogerson’s sophomore novel, but the first story I have read by her. This world was created with such care and detail it could easily hav

Relatively Normal By Whitney Dineen

--> Relatively Normal was recommended by Amazon as a book that I may be interested in. After having purchased several "recommended" books by Amazon that were total flops, I am a little more resistant to purchase their recommendations. When I saw that Whitney Dineen was an award winning author, I figured I would give this romantic comedy a go. I give this book 3.3 stars rounded down to a 3. I wanted to like this book more than I did.  Cat is a successful party planner who is in a committed relationship and decides to take her betrothed home to meet her family; however, her family isn’t quite “normal.” So… you can see where this story is going. To make matters even worse her high school love who tragically smashed her heart into a million pieces decides to re-enter her life. In the beginning, I had a hard time really connecting with the characters. The story was interesting because I wanted to see what the Masterson family was going to do next. As the stor

The Good Girl By Mary Kubica

The Good Girl by Mary Kubica can best be summed up by a quote from an interview I found at the end of the book. “… a gripping story of an abduction where nothing is exactly what it seems.” This novel is phenomenal, and I couldn’t put it down. I'm honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews I've read on Goodreads and Amazon. This story was a page turning, plot twisting suspenseful masterpiece. The fact that this is Kubica’s debut novel is even more impressive! The Good Girl is told by three different characters: Mia’s mother (Eve), the detective (Gabe), and the abductor(Colin), and it alternates between “before” and “after.” We don’t find out until the end what the event is that denotes the change from before to after, and it is not at all what I was expecting.  Kubica does an amazing job at developing her characters and making you feel like you have a front row seat to the despair and discovery weaved throughout the pages. I felt real emotion immersed in the wor
